JOHN PARISH AND POLLY JEAN HARVEY NEW ALBUM AND DANCE PROJECT Island Records releases a collaboration album by John Parish and Polly Jean Harvey on September 24th. Title 'Dance Hall At Louse Point,' the album has eleven new compositions, each with music by Parish and words by Harvey, and a cover of a Peggy Lee standard "Is That All There Is?' which features a guest appearance from Mick Harvey of The Bad Seeds. "John and I have wanted to do an album together for a long time now," says Polly. "This is the first time I've written words to someone else's music. It's been an enlightening experience and I feel that it has changed my approach to songwriting in a positive way." 'Dance Hall At Louse Point' was recorded at Small World Studios in Yeovil, and was produced by John Parish and Polly Jean Harvey, with Mick Harvey co-producing "Is That All There Is?." The album was engineered by Head, who also worked on PJ Harvey's album 'Dry.' Parish co-produced PJ Harvey's last album 'To Bring You My Love' and played guitar and percussion in her band throughout '95, during which time they wrote the songs for 'Dance Hall At Louse Point.' "Polly has one of the most emotive voices I've ever heard," he says. "There's no one I'd rather hear singing with my music." Choreographer Mark Bruce plans to use 'Dance Hall At Louse Point' as the basis for a major contemporary dance piece to be commissioned by The Performing Arts South Bank Centre which will tour Britain in early '97, including dates at London's Queen Elizabeth Hall. The music will be performed live by a five piece band fronted by Parish and Harvey and confirmed dates will be announce later. There are no planned U.S. dates.
